Welcome to our new monthly column where Kara and I give you our fashion perspective on a different trend each month.
Whoa, wait, back it up – before I get started I’m guessing you might want to know, who Kara and Stef is and why you want to hear our fashion perspectives. So let me introduce us!
I’m Stef, the owner/founder and head stylist at Cru Fashion Agency. I am a certified personal stylist through the New York Institute of Art and Design and have owned and operated my styling business located in Canfield, Ohio for just about eight years. I am a fashion book junkie, a professional thrift store navigator and live to connect women with outfits that transform them into the most confident version of themselves. This is literally why I exist.
Kara is my gorgeous, intelligent and trendy niece. She is the original Cru girl starting in the early days with her corner section of the boutique labeled Kara’s Closet!
Now that she’s a grown up version of all that adorableness, she is Cru’s Online Sales Assistant, blog contributor and my eyes and ears into the younger generation of all things fashion. Kara has a passion for reading and writing and is following the path to become a successful journalist so when I casually mentioned that she should have a column on the Cru site we both looked at each other and instantly knew it would be the perfect fit!
So here we present to you our first Fashion Perspective post titled IMO (In My Opinion) with Kara and Stef where we give our opinions on a trending style from my perspective (the 30- something view point) and from her perspective (the teen viewpoint).
For our first edition of this column we are covering the current CARGO PANT fashion trend.
CARGO PANTS as defined by the Oxford dictionary are loose-fitting casual slacks with large patch pockets on the thighs.
CARGO PANTS as defined by the Urban dictionary are pants with over-sized pockets designed specifically for sneaking inexpensive snacks into a movie theater or similar venue.
<< Kara >> In my opinion…
In fall/winter 2022, there are many different fashion trends and my personal favorite is cargo pants. I think that cargo pants are so cute and could be styled in many different ways. For example, I would wear them with a solid white sweater, silver jewelry, and black high top Converse. For a less casual look, I would wear them with a black cropped shirt, gold jewelry, and black Dr Martens boots. I think that baggy cargo pants are more my style than the other types, I also think they are more comfortable. Everyone should have a pair of cargo pants in their fall/winter wardrobe!
<< Stef >> In my opinion… I completely agree with Kara when she mentions how easily cargo pants can be styled so many different ways. They are a great alternative to your standard jeans or dress pants and can be dressed up or dressed down. However, I feel that the baggier style is great for a younger girl/woman while the more fitted style cargo pant works best for a more mature woman’s body. As women we tend to desire looks that are slimming and a baggier pant can often give the illusion of a larger figure (unless paired with a tight fitting cropped style top). To opt for a more fitted style cargo pant you are creating a sleek, yet fun look. SO yes Kara, you nailed it -everyone should definitely have a pair of cargo pants in their fall/winter wardrobe! (And this look would work for spring too when paired with a tank and cute sandals!)
